Jay Bhatt, DO, MPH, MPA, is a physician executive, geriatrician, and nationally recognized innovator in health care and public health. Currently, Dr. Bhatt is a researcher and strategist across life sciences and health care, translating complex trends into actionable insights for executives and organizations. He advances high-impact collaborations that equip decision-makers to drive system-level change, strengthen communities, and improve health outcomes for individuals and families.

A prominent thought leader, Dr. Bhatt focuses on population health, care delivery innovation, health span, artificial intelligence, digital health, and the intersection of public health and health care transformation. Deeply committed to patient care, he continues to practice medicine at a community health center and serves on the Board of Directors for Cook County Health and Goodwill Industries of Greater Milwaukee and Chicago. Previously, Dr. Bhatt served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of the American Hospital Association, where he also led the Health Research & Educational Trust. Earlier in his career, he practiced primary care at Erie Family Health Center, held a faculty appointment at Northwestern Medicine, served as Chief Health Officer of the Illinois Health and Hospital Association, and was Managing Deputy Commissioner and Chief Innovation Officer for the Chicago Department of Public Health.

Dr. Bhatt earned his BA from the University of Chicago; his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine; his Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago; and his Master of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School as a Zuckerman and Commonwealth Fund Minority Health Policy Fellow. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.

His leadership and impact have been recognized nationally, including honors such as Crain’s Chicago 40 Under 40, the Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Award, and membership in the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
